English in Africa is a newly opened language school in Hout Bay - a leafy suburb of Cape Town boasting one of the best beaches in the country. The climate is warm Mediterranean and the mix of African cultures , nature, and the proximity of the city makes it an ideal destination. Our mission to teach English as a second language to people from all over the world, from absolute beginners to university level English speakers. We strive to create a professional and productive environment for our students, yet in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere , all in a very original and inspiring setting.

At English in Africa we don't believe that there is a universal way to learn a language, therefore we offer courses designed to satisfy your specific needs. You can enroll every Monday and you can choose from 2 weeks to 52 weeks course. You can individually adjust the length, intensity and focus of your study. Our school has the ambition to become the first environmentally friendly institution of its kind in Africa. Our vision is to become a completely CO2 neutral business with 0 percent non recycled waste. We cooperate with local environmentally friendly organizations and offer our students information and lectures on nature conservation and green living alternatives.

We are very passionate about Cape Town and Hout Bay in particular, and we would love to share it with you. The school lies on a beautiful piece of land and offers African fusion style architecture. The office and common areas are located inside a hundred year old building, which offers a kitchen facility with free coffee and tea and the possibility to have snacks and refreshments, dining/sitting lounge with a beautiful fireplace. There is a free Wi-Fi internet connection for all of our students, so you are welcome to bring your own laptop. If you don't have a computer with you, there are student computers in the common area for you to use.

The classrooms are all located in a traditional African hut style buildings, very spacious, yet very cozy. We have only up to 10 people in a classroom, which ensures that each student can be attended to individually and still have plenty of opportunities for teamwork and multi cultural interactions. Our students come from all over the World , mainly Germany, Italy, Brazil, Russia, Korea, Angola and China. Off course, there is a multitude of other nationalities from all over Europe and other parts of the World, offering a good mix of different people in the classrooms. As you get to know all the different cultures and nationalities, this literally opens the door to the world for you, and you'll make a lot of friends for life.

The school grounds offer large off street parking space, huge lawns for you to enjoy your breaks on, or shady garden sitting where you can relax and chat with your classmates.

We offer 7 different programs for our students. The Standard Course runs for 20 lessons per week of general English, the Intensive course adds another 10 lessons per week of afternoon conversation classes. Then, there's a Standard + Course and Intensive + Course , which offer 5 private one to one lessons per week atop of each course respectively, making Standard + to be 25 lessons a week and Intensive + to 35 lessons a week.

We also offer Business English Courses - Business Standard and Business Executive. These courses include a Standard Course, plus 10 lessons per week of business group class for Business Standard Course and 10 lessons per week plus of private one to one business classes per week for Business Executive. There's a special course offered by our school utilizing the unique location of the school. There are many horse riding estates in Hout Bay and we can offer a course combining English and horse riding.

A typical week consists of a Standard Course and afternoon 2-3 hours of riding lessons in one of the renowned horse estates. We can also offer a tailor made course according to individual needs - 10 lessons per week of only private one to one classes, focused on any area of the language the student needs. TOEFL and Cambridge certificates exams can be applied for and carried out in Cape Town. The school can organize a special course leading towards a certificate. Please note that these examinations are on a set date only a couple of times throughout the year, so booking well in advance is required.

We have studets from all over the world, mainly Germany, Brazil, Korea, Japan, Russia, France and Italy. We strive to maintain a good mix of nationalities in the classrooms. There's up to 10 people in a classroom, the average is about 7. The average age of our students is about 22.

Activiteiten

There are many activities in Hout bay and Cape Town. From a typical African Safari, through extreme sports and sightseeing, to world famous restaurants and landmarks, it has a little bit for everyone. Horse riding and beach activities can be particularly enjoyed in Hout Bay, Cape Town offers a world class city destination with an African twist.
